Talking about sexual abuse is like walking barefoot over broken glass. The atrocities done under the cover of darkness are easy to hide, sickening to discover, and nearly impossible to discuss. For decades I could not speak a word about the abuse I endured. I could remember what happened. I could still feel the effects. But I could never tell. Not ever. And if someone had told me I would author my story to be read by the world? Well... I would have come unglued. But then Jesus. I would like to say life was rainbows and unicorns after I met Him. And today, when I look back at all those dark memories, all I see is Jesus. I wrote this book for the people still in hiding. YOU are NOT alone. And for those who've never been abused: may this story help you intimately understand the bruised and broken people in your life. Finally, and most importantly, I wrote this book for Jesus. It is a strong misconception that God only lives in perfect people, glittering temples, or gold-plated churches. Jesus shines brightest in the dark - as He sees all, knows all, heals all and redeems all. Psalm 139:12 ESV says: even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. God does overcome evil. I hope you find the courage to read this book. Perhaps it will help you face your own monsters. Most of all, I hope you find Christ. Because God created you to be loved (John 3:16).
