For years, this has been the definitive history of Grand Lake, Colorado, a small town at the west entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. The author, Mary Lyons Cairns, went to Grand Lake as a school teacher in 1905 and married the owner of the local general store, James Cairns. He was one of the town's pioneers, having arrived in Grand Lake in 1881.
The blue hardback version of this book has an index, which was pulled together by the Cairns' daughter, Patience Cairns Kemp. A paperback printing came out in 1991. For some reason, it was renamed Grand Lake: The Pioneers.
